21 Months

My little Mister is 21 months!  I can hardly believe it.  We are already in party planning stage for his big 2 year old birthday.  I am not ready for him to be growing up so fast.

 - Wearing size 24 month/2T clothes
 - Wearing size 5 shoe.  While they fit in length.....Aydan has a little bit of a chubby foot - so sometimes we have to squeeze his foot into them.  Size 6 are way to big right now.
 - Says: mama, Papa (although he was whispers Papa), bye, mil (milk), uh oh (learned this one from me :) ), and a lot of other things that I'm not quite sure what he means.
 - Loves dancing....I mean - he is my child after all.  We dance parties to Ellen almost everyday when we get home from work/school.  He also likes to dance in the car with mama.  Need to probably find more appropriate kid friendly songs......
 - Goes through stages where he likes to be attached to our legs.  all. the. time.  makes getting ready to go anywhere a lot of fun.
 - We wants to eat what we are getting.  and he does.  But I mean, it has to look like out food.  Apparently he doesn't like his meat cut up small for him.  And sometimes he just will not eat meat.  He loves his veggies though!
 - Has moments of really bad tempers (no idea where he gets this from....)
 - HATES getting his teeth brushed.  I dread having to do this and usually leave it to Michael.
 - Favorite cartoon:  Backyardigans (this is going to be his birthday theme).
 - Likes to get the mail when we get home for the day, and always has to carry a piece in and put it on the counter.
 - Loves to hug and pester Tango (I get a kicl out of this).  Also tries to sit on Tango - as in ride him like a horse.
 - Sleeps with Sock Money everynight.  And still with a paci.  need to break this ASAP!
 - Biter.  He is the one bitting all the other kids at school.  We bought a book about teeth are for chewing and not bitting and tell him everyday that bitting hurts.  Seems to be working - has not bitten anyone this week ("that they have noticed" - quote from teacher.)

He is the best part of me

Photo Fun

We are working on a canvas photo project - and long story short - 2 of the photos that we wanted to use...well....they are too close up and didn't work so well.  So this past weekend we went out and took a few photos.  Not sure if even of them will actually make it to canvas - but I do like them.  And Michael got me Photoshop Elements for Mother's Day and I have been using those photos to mess around in the software (I really need to take a class).

In a flower field off an exit.  None of these turned out as I was hoping - but we tired.  The wind was too strong, there were too many distractions for Aydan.  But I wanted to post a few anyway.

"There's mama"

Then we went downtown Fuquay and took some on the side of an old building.  I love this wall and Love how these turned out!

Michael was all about the boys standing with their hands in their pockets....I think they look cute!

And after we were done and in the car getting ready to drive to get something to each, we drove down a street we had never been down before and came across this little secret hideaway!  LOVE this wooden wall!

Aydan would not keep his hands in his pockets:

NaNaNaNaNaNaNaNa....Batman

Most nights it is a battle to brush Aydan's teeth.  We literally have to hold him down and get about 2 seconds worth of back and forth while he opens his mouth to scream.  But on this night - he was willing - and even wanted to do it himself.  I think it's because of the PJs!

but of course - when Michael actually went to really brush his teeth - the crying started

Water Fun

Since the weather has been so nice and it is only going to get hotter, Michael and I have been wanting to get some toys for Aydan to play with outside.  Especially water fun!

So Grandma P told us to pick out a water table and sandbox for Mr. Aydan.  I won't tell you that Michael picked out a pirate ship water table that cost $85!!!!  Ridiculous!  Is he is sane.  Absolutely not I said.  And found a normal one for $30.  and Aydan seemed to like it just as well.

It didn't take him long to start throwing the water out of the table

And destroy it......

and for some reason, all these smiles turned into this for no reason

Don't worry - the tears only lasted about 8 seconds and then he was right back to playing and getting soaked!

Seperation Anxiety?

Lately, this is my view:

This would be Aydan hugging my legs.  While this looks sweet and Innocent....that is hardly the case.  Aydan is attached to our legs.  All. The.Time.

If we try to walk away - he screams and reattaches himself to our legs.

I don't know if this is the beginning of the separation anxiety.
I don't know if it is because some of his classmates recently moved up in daycare and he is afraid of people leaving.
I just don't know what is going on.

Sometimes this can be cute.

But it also makes it extremly hard to get anything done.  Even the simplest task, like trying to take a shower, turns into a complete meltdown.

I can only hope that this is a short lived phase.

20 Months

I can't believe this little man is going to be 2 years old in just 4 short months!  I think this year has gone even faster than the first!  It's hard to keep track of all the ways Aydan has changed and grown up and even harder to remember every moment that I want forever in my heart.  It's still the simple moments I love best - the ones that you can't capture on film.  His laugh because he is opening and closing your eyes with his fingers.  The times that we just lay in bed on a lazy Sunday morning laughing at each other.  When he grabs our face in his hand and turns our head in his direction.

 - At 20 months the only words that he clearly says is "no" and "stop".  "No" is anytime something doesn't go his way and "stop" is usually directed at Tango.
 - Scoots down the stairs on his butt - learned this real quick after he tried to take a step down and tumbled down (at least it was only three stairs to the first landing)
 - Puts is hands up as of to say "what?"
 - Closes the book at story time when he is ready to go to sleep.  Also helps turn the pages.
 - Throws a fit when brushing his top teeth (yup - his top teeth only - we haven't figured out why...)
 - Loves to wash his hands
 - Getting really good at throwing tantrums!  Has spent a few times in timeout.
 - Starting to show possessiveness when it comes to his toys.  Working on the sharing thing.

 - Wearing 24 month clothes (still some 18 month pants)
 - Size 5 shoes
 - Has a full mouth of teeth
 - Doesn't really have a favorite toy, but likes anything that he can slide/roll down the hardwood floors....even when it is not even a toy (chairs, boxes)
 - Sleeps with sock monkey every night
 - East everything!  Haven't really found anything that he won't eat!  People always say that Aydan is "such a good eater"
 - Favorite TV shows include Backyardigans, Dinosaur Train and Fresh Beat Band.

Stay Away

because my house is filled with germs!

Aydan has hand, foot, mouth disease and Michael has Strep.  I don't know what worse.

When I picked the little man up form daycare yesterday they told me that Aydan's temperature was 102 (but they didn't call because they knew it was close to my quitting time).  and then they warned me that hand foot mouth is going around his class.

Great.

He was tired all last night and just wanted to be held.  So I did just that.

We made our bets on whether he had strep or hand foot mouth.  He finally went to his bed about 9...but he moaned a groaned all night.  No one got a whole lot of sleep.

and then in the morning...we saw his rash on his feet and few sores around his mouth and it pretty much confirmed that he had this awful disease.  Awful for so many reasons, but the main reason is probably because there is no easy, fast cure all.  It literally just has to work its way out.  and we can only give him Tylenol to help with the pain.

Michael was feeling better but still not 100% and thought it best to take one more day off of work (especially to make sure his antibiotics were in his system before he was around other people).

So I thought it best to leave this germ - infested house and leave my two sick boys to take care of each other

Mama's View

This is what I see - as Aydan is on my hip.  He has been there a lot lately.  I don't know what it is but when we are at home he wants to be in my arms or hugging my legs if I am standing.  When we get home from work and school - he now just wants to chill on the couch - I guess too tired from playing all day.

It doesn't allow things to get done - But at least I get a cute view
